The GShG-7.62 is a Soviet-designed six-barrel machine gun, developed in the 1960s, that fires the 7.62×54mmR cartridge. It is commonly seen on helicopter gunships, and is known for its high rate of fire, reliability, and effectiveness against infantry targets. The weapon weighs approximately 24 kg (53 lbs) and has a cyclic rate of fire of around 6,000 rounds per minute. It is typically fed by a 5,000-round belt, with two of these belts mounted on either side of the gun. The GShG-7.62 has been widely exported to various countries, including Cuba, Iraq, and Syria, and has seen combat in conflicts around the world.
